Fixed Ip or Dynamic Ip ?

A fixed internet address is an adress assigned by your internet service provider that allows you to work and connect to other internet applications. This ip will not change generally. It's then called a ' Fixed Internet address or a Fixed Ip '.

A dynamic Internet address or a Dynamic ip is also assigned by your internet service provider for your internet connexion (dsl , wimax or other connexion ). This ip is dynamic : Your isp may change this internet address every time here wants.

Connecting to a computer having a dynamic internet address ( dynamic ip ) will not work all the times because the internet address could change.

Advantage of a dynamic ip : Some one who hacked you now, will not be able to do that at the next time because your intenet ip will change.

Disvantage of a fixed ip : hackers can attack you all the times because your internet address is a fixed address.

The dynamic dns service allows pepole who has a dynamic ip to host their applications ( web server, web page, ftp server, mysql database ) at home. The dyndns server is able to maintan the configuration data of your internet domain name and also your subdomains names and every one who would like to access to your application could do that. Installing a dyndns client on your desktop or internet router able to connect to the dynamic dns server and send it data that indicates the internet address ( ip address ) attached to the domain name or subdomain name.

The most of dsl and wimax internet provider offer dynamic internet address for their subscribers and the use of the dynamic dns ( dyndns ) service allows people to host their web applications in their desktop at home.
